Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has again called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow his technical and legal team access to all the required materials to enable them to come up with a petition to the court.
Obi lamented that what the electoral body did with the will of the people at the presidential poll was very troubling.
The former Governor of Anambra state told the electoral body to desist from hindering the course of justice for a new Nigeria.
Obi attributed destruction of any society to a gradual process which involved intentional suppression of people’s will and manipulation of the rule of law.
The LP presidential candidate made this known in a post on his Twitter handle on Friday.
He similarly called on Labour Party supporters to come out en mass to cast their votes for the Party’s candidates across the country on Saturday
According to him: “What INEC did with the WILL OF NIGERIANS on the 25th of February is even far more troubling. It will only serve to exacerbate our sad situation, the frustration of the people, and the deterioration of the country.
“As we are directed to go to court, we call on INEC to provide all the required materials and access to our legal and technical teams to do their job. INEC should not be a hindrance to the efforts to get justice for a New Nigeria!
“History has taught us that the destruction of a society can be gradual or sudden through deliberate manipulation of the rule of law and suppression of the will of the people,” he tweeted.
“However, rather than dampen our spirit, we are doubly inspired by the creativity, passion, patriotism, and relentless optimism of Nigerians, particularly our youths on the need and urgency of a New Nigeria. It is a demand that its time has come,” he added
