Atiku Laments Simultaneous Absence of Tinubu, His Vice Amidst Challenges Facing Nigeria

Atiku Abubakar, former Vice-President of Nigeria, has expressed his concern on Monday regarding the simultaneous absence of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima from the country.

” I have been inundated by reports of the absence of the president and vice president from the country. It is unprecedented that the two leaders will be absent from the country at the same time, especially now that the nation is faced with daunting challenges. The question that readily comes to mind is who is in charge of government at this point, or is it right to assume that we are on autopilot? ” Atiku remarked.

Reports surfaced last Thursday, revealing President Tinubu’s confidential journey to France, following his official visit to Saudi Arabia for the World Economic Forum in Riyadh.

Investigations by SaharaReporters unveiled the President’s itinerary, indicating a transition from Saudi Arabia to London, then onwards to France, with the latter visit allegedly for medical purposes, although the Presidency remained mum on these movements.

Meanwhile, Vice President Shettima embarked on a journey to Dallas, USA, representing President Tinubu at the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit organized by the Corporate Council on Africa.

In response to these developments, Atiku voiced concerns about the absence of both top officials amid the country’s ongoing challenges, questioning the governance structure in their absence and whether the nation was effectively being run.
