The Supreme Court has set May 9th as the day to deliver its verdict on the disputed Osun State gubernatorial election held on July 16th.
The decision was made after hearing arguments from the parties involved in the matter. The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, represented the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, while Adegboyega Oyetola represented the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Oyetola is the appellant in the Supreme Court, having lost at the Court of Appeal, while Adeleke is the major respondent who won the Court of Appeal’s decision.
The Supreme Court’s final verdict will be delivered by 2 pm on May 9th. At the proceedings, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN presented arguments for the APC. The Court of Appeal had nullified the tribunal judgment that nullified the election of Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. The appellate court held that the appeal Adeleke lodged to challenge his sack by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was meritorious.
