Don’t Be Divided By Tinubu’s Victory – NCAC Tells Nigerians

Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, the Director-General of the National Council for Arts and Culture, NCAC, has called on Nigerians to remain united despite the outcome of the 2023 general elections. Runsewe made this appeal during a program themed ‘Culture, Peace, and National Rebirth: An Agenda Setting’ held in Abuja.

The Director-General expressed his concern over the high level of polarization witnessed in Nigeria since the civil war. Runsewe noted that the 2023 general elections had further deepened the divide among Nigerians along primordial and parochial lines.

He further pointed out that the heightened tension, bitterness, rancor, and acrimony generated during the electioneering campaigns fanned the embers of distrust and disunity among the people.

Runsewe emphasized that no nation could achieve its developmental aspirations when its elite were heavily divided along religious and ethnic lines.

He urged Nigerians to prioritize national interest over individual or group interests and work towards ensuring peace and unity in the country.
