Process Of Reclaiming People’s Mandate Has Just Started – Obi Says As He Formally Petitions Tribunal

Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the just concluded presidential election, has officially petitioned the presidential election tribunal in Abuja challenging the process that led to the declaration of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the winner of the presidential election held on 25 February, 2023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had declared Tinubu the winner of the 2023 presidential election amidst protests by political parties against the results being collated.

The electoral umpire announced the results challenging parties that are not satisfied to approach the tribunal.

Obi took up the challenge and approached the court, though he has raised the alarm over INEC’s refusal to allow him access to the materials required to file a petition.

Updating on the journey so far, Obi, through Yunusa Tanko, the Chief spokesperson of Obi-Datti presidential Campaign Council, told Vanguard that a petition against the presidential election process had been handed in to the tribunal.

According to him: “It is official the Labor Party Presidential candidate Peter OBI has filed his petition to the presidential elections tribunal in Abuja. The process of reclaiming the people’s mandate has started.”
