The Senator Representing Abia North Senatorial Zone, Orji Uzor Kalu, has cried out over the hardship imposed by the lingering cash scarcity in the economy.
He claimed that members of his family were unable to have access to enough money to prepare meals.
He acknowledged that the policy was actually good, but noting that he never kept money at home, and was suffering.
The APC chieftain stated this while while appearing on The 2023 Verdict, a Channels Television’s programme about the upcoming elections monitored by Dailygists.
According to Kalu: “The other day, my house manager told my wife in Abuja that we have no money to cook food. My wife was virtually roaming around and we feed over 250 people every day.”
“You can see the policy is right but I don’t keep money in my house. I am suffering,” he said during his appearance on Channels Television’s election programme The 2023 Verdict

Speaking further on the matter between Buhari and the Federal Government, the former Governor of Abia state pointed out that Aso Rock ought to have complied with the decision of the apex court.
“This is why if I am in the position of the Mr President as I have told you before, I will listen to the Supreme Court judgement. The Supreme Court to me, whether they are right or wrong, Mr President should obey the law and ask his Attorney General to put a review to the Supreme Court,” Kalu said.
President Muhammadu Buhari had, in a recent broadcast upheld the cash redesign policy concerning the old N500 and N1000 notes, but extended the use of the 200 Naira note to April this year.
The Presidential broadcast which upheld the redesign policy came as a shock to many, especially after Supreme Court’s counter order in that regard.
Many Nigerians have lamented the cash scarcity in the country despite the extension of the N200 notes.
