Nigerian Military Emerges 36th Most Powerful Globally

The Global Fire Power index has put the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 36th position out of about 145 countries according to military fire power.

In the previous ranking, Nigeria was given 35th position, but with the latest rank, the country dropped one place in position.

Similarly, on the continent of Africa, the most populous Black country in the world dropped one place in ranking.

Egypt, Algeria, and South Africa made it to the first, second, and third positions, while at the global level, they were given 14, 26, and 33 respectively

The United States retains its first position with Russia and China maintaining second and third positions respectively.

India is the fourth most powerful country, while the United Kingdom came fifth.

According to Tribune, the organization stated that: “Ranking the nations of the world based on currently available firepower. The finalised Global Firepower ranking below utilises over 60 individual factors to determine a given nation’s Power Index (‘PwrIndx’) score with categories, ranging from the number of military units and financial standing to logistical capabilities and geography.

“For 2023, Nigeria is ranked 36 of 145 out of the countries considered for the annual GFP review. The nation holds a PwrIndx score of 0.5587″.
