Elections In Imo LGA Postponed After Thugs Kidnapped 19 INEC Officials

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has postponed polls in Ideato North LGA of Imo state following reported abduction of its staff members numbering 19.

The development calls for serious concerns regarding the security and safety of the affected officials of the electoral umpire.

However, the abducted officials, were reportedly rescued by security forces, but electoral materials weren’t recovered.

Speaking with the Whistler, the commission’s official who preferred anonymity, stated that the electoral body had no other alternative but to postpone voting in the local government.

The INEC officials were apparently kidnapped during the voting process at their various polling units.
