The North African country, Morocco, has reportedly entered into a joint bid with Portugal and Spain to host the 2030 world.
The country made this known during the Fifa Congress on Tuesday.
Recall that Ukraine which is currently at war with Russia entered the joint bid with Portugal and Ukraine in October last year.
But owing to the ongoing war in the country, it’s uncertain what becomes of the country’s aspiration to partake in hosting of the multinational tournament
Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina have similarly handed in a joint bid to the same tournament.
Morocco had lost to South Africa, the bid to host the world cup in 2010 and similarly didn’t make it in a joint bid with Canada, United States, and Mexico to host the world cup in 2026.
The North African country performed amazingly well in the last world cup.
Morocco made history by emerging the first African Nation to reach the semi-final of the world cup tournament.
Speaking during the 73rd congress of the world football governing body, the leader of the country King Mohammed VI in a letter presented by Morocco’s sports Minister, Chakib Benmoussa, said: “I would like to announce that the Kingdom of Morocco has decided, together with Spain and Portugal, to present a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup
“This joint bid, which is unprecedented in football history, will bring together Africa and Europe, the northern and southern Mediterranean, and the African, Arab and Euro-Mediterranean worlds.
“It will also bring out the best in all of us – in effect a combination of genius, creativity, experience and means.”
The congress was held in Kigali.
