The Academic staff union of Universities, Asuu has confirmed that it has ended it one week warning strike which was started due to over the non-implementation of a 2009 agreement with the Federal Government.
Many nigerian student would be happy to hear this new strike update as the president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) confirmed that the union has ended its strike.
Asuu president,Professor Biodun Ogunyemi while speaking to our news souce today said the union had no other choice than to use the strike to remind the Government of their unfulfilled promise to universities.
following the calling off of the Asuu strike, Prof. Ogunyemi, called on all lecturers to return to work, saying: “We are making progress, especially with the intervention of the Senate. In the next one or two meetings, if we are able to get a clear path to the matter, we will avoid elongation of the strike action
“I have been receiving these reports that ASUU says strike continues. No. The strike ends today (Tuesday). All lecturers are to go back to work Wednesday morning.” In conclusion the ASUU president said they were hopeful of a positive outcome, going by the response coming from the federal government
